It's a way of asserting dominance. When you pause for a long time during a conversation, you're forcing the other person to wait for you to reply. It signals that you're calling the shots, both to the person you're talking to and to anyone looking. It's a very classic trick taught by coaches that politicians and national leaders take advice from in how to behave during public appearances and negotiations and such

@Floyder44 If Turkey puts laws in place that makes it impossible for Twitter to offer it's services to the Turkish people legally, then that'a not really Twitters fault now is it?

@sushienjoyer Sure you can. Human rights for example are nothing but opinions. There's no scientific FACTS to back up their validity. But most of us see their validity as truth by virtue of being self-evident.
