I always found it curious how both Candyman and Freddy Kreuger are both supernatural phantasms, who both rely on the memories and fears of people to maintain their existence. Well at least on Freddy's part it was established in Freddy vs Jason. Maybe a Candyman and Terror on Elm Street crossover would've been a more interesting crossover?

@pointysidedown There's some playover in terms of the nature of Candyman and the Cenobites from Hellraiser by virtue of both of them being more supernatural villains. However, Hellraiser goes a bit more in depth in regards to the origins of the cenobites. There's a well established explanation and internal ruleset as to why they exist and for what purpose. Candyman's existence is more mysterious. He's a revenant, but no metaphysical explanation is offered as to why he's able to terrorize the living from beyond the grave. Pinhead and the cenobites have a more revealed backstory and lore. (An actuall Hell, Leviathan and the Lament Configuratio and all that) So for a crossover, it would be hard to avoid having to shoehorn Candyman into Hellraisers lore. And I just don't feel that would be very satisfying on a personal level, since he'd end up coming across as a sidekick character to the cenobites. But that's just my personal take on it. You probably have a different one that you find satisfying.

@that_goth_bitch3899 First off: I'm not american. So the name I posted for the movies are a localized translation of it. "Nightmare" just never spring to mind for me when thinking about the series. To continue, IMO crossovers suck in general. Can't remember a time when I've ever seen a good one. My reasoning here was that Candyman and Freddy share a conceptual similarity in terms of being kept "alive" and dangerous through people's memories/dreams of them. Jason Voorhees is a more "physical" beast, so the combination of his franchise and Freddy's seem a bit odd to me. That's all.

@thedukeofchutney468 Think of it this way, Candyman is a revenant who's life was unjustly robbed from him. A cruel twist of fate made it so that he can still cling to existence so long as he's murdering people to keep his memory alive. I don't think that's entirely unsympathetic. It's reminiscent of vampire mythology in the sense that vampires have to feed off the living to continue their own existence. And it hearkens back to the age old question of the two starving men stuck on a deserted island and cannibalism is the only solution for one of them to stay alive.
