  1. I think that by the 18th century, cattle farming had made quite a lot of advances with more livestock to go around. Quite different from medieval times when eating meat was more of of a festive occasion and where vegetables and grain made up the larger portion of the day to day meals for most people (except for royalty, clergy and nobility)
