Imagine an English peasant on a pilgrimage to Jerusalem finding himself in a land of deserts and palm trees. To him it must've felt like visiting another planet entirely! Modern people may not have been to places where palm trees grow in the wild, but media makes us somewhat familiar with them regardless. But to a medieval english peasant, he would've probably never seen anything like it.

So ironically, if you went for realistic tank formations for a movie, you could easily get away with just using 1-2 real tanks, and just use CGI to add some blurry outlines of tanks in the distance for every shot? That could certainly trim down a movie budget by a lot 😄

If we use shotgun terms here... Does she have an "over under" or a "side by side"? 🤔

Remember to play "Battery" by Metallica when setting up your battery position.

I was always curious about the evolution of single eyelids and double eyelids. I don't really feel concerned about the aesthetics of it since both look fine to me. What intrigues me is why some humans developed single eyelids overtime while others developed double eyelids. Certain physical features in humans aren't present merely by accident after all. They exist because there was some sort of natural benefit to it. I also think that this biological perspective makes it easier for me to appreciate the uniqueness of different physical features in different ethnic groups. To me it's like these features are trying to tell a story of where these ethnicities come from and what enviromental and biological factors shaped them into how they look today.

I never understood the "immature = attractive" thing. Even from anime and hentai you could find female characters who were both mature and sexy at the same time. On a personal note I always found them more appealing than the immature "kawaii" female characters. They would just come across as annoying to me.

It's so inspirational to see a bloke who's done well for himself in life but choose to spend his earnings on something worthwhile (like warhorses, swords, armour and other educational items from history) rather than wasting it on partying and drugs.

It's no surprise either. If you spend some time with university professors you quickly come to realize how pampered and sheltered they are from the issues of mainstream society. They spend most of their time doing research and lectures, even off the office hours. They enjoy things like "tenure" where they can't be fired from their jobs, regardless of their performance. They basically never have to worry about losing their employment or income, and in turn never worry about paying bills and rent. And 90 percent of the people they socialize with are other academics as sheltered and pampered as they are. A lot of the time they've never worked a "real job" in their life either, but have gone straight from graduating college into become a university employee.

The costumes of this film are actually quite brilliant. It's a french production, so the costume designers would be people deep into the high fashion world. So when you see an outlandish costume in the film, it's not just a costume but probably a kind of avant garde cotoure that would be right at home in some of the Parisian catwalks. I'd say it adds a certain cultural depth to the film that you may not have found in a purely american production. Also if you're a sci-fi buff, it's always a treat to watch french productions and read comic books of the genre. The priorities are considerations in making them are quite different, colourful and refreshing compared to works from the anglosphere. Not necessairly "better" all the time, but just "different". It's kind of like the difference between western anglosphere science fiction and Japanese Anime.

Talos really look like an actual warhorse. A fine balance between a lithe, agile frame and robustness combined.
