  1. The biggest fear of all looks to be nearing realisation. The nukes are made ready and all it takes is to push a little further. The war-gamers know that those countries with a large land mass will have the means to shelter and support much reduced populations - those in the cities will fry of course, but hinterland enclaves can survive. As for countries that are geographically small and densely populated? Total human eradication. Yet comment sections are full of tub-thumpers who argue for escalation. They are casting all of this as though it's 1938 and there is a new ravenous beast intent on sweeping all the way to Lisbon and must be stopped by any means.
