Comments by "Edward McLaughlin" (@edwardmclaughlin7935) on "Most voters think Brexit has gone badly, according to a new poll" video.
Our vote to leave the EU was at its base a rejection of the fact that our sovereignty had been gradually worn away, leaving our national decision-making process in the hands of people for whom we had not voted, and in most cases, we did not even know. It took four years and more, of political can-kicking, to have the 2016 result even recognised, much less finalised. Then the scamdemic and the realisation that we are being played by the same people; and moreover, that the external impositions on our national decision-making come from ever more-distant powers. The term 'badly' doesn't even get near the anger that is built-up.

@nigelsynnott7344 The people who had over-riding control of the decision-making that could pertain in the UK; and for whom we had not voted, were the European Commission, and arbitrarily appointed body, the selection of which the people of the UK had no say. How come I'm having to explain this to you?
1
@nigelsynnott7344 You need to get yourself switched-on to how things actually work, both in Brussels and in Whitehall. Both of them are run by a very tiny number of 'elevated' members. Both parliaments are window dressing.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 You have corrected nothing. My last comment was entirely in keeping with the previous comments. You've copped out is all.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 Your point is that the UK lost no sovereignty as a result of membership of the EU. My argument is that we had lost some and were in the process of losing more sovereignty the longer we were in the EU - that is its actual mission. I'm not emotional and you don't know what a trope is.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 "...pooled sovereignty" No sovereignty at all.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 Those little funny marks there? Quotation marks? They point out that I'm pointing out your Orwellian use of language. To 'pool' sovereignty is to dilute sovereignty, such that it is not longer what it was. Those creative writing lessons are really paying off for you aren't they?
1
@nigelsynnott7344 The UK has voted to regain sovereignty. You don't like that, I do. You tried the semantic sleight of hand mate, not me.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 Dilution is loss. That's how the EU work things: by increment, in the hope no-one notices. I haven't used a trope. I've pointed out that the EU is run by a tiny group of unelected people. They set the agenda and it's their decision what the general assembly can vote on.
1
@bbbf09 Because that's not how it worked and you know it. Don't be too downhearted mate, we might re-join sometime eh?
1
@bbbf09 "Farage was an MEP". So what. You seem very confused. Try condensing your ideas rather than rambling all over the place.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 The EU is run by a small and unelected body which decides what the larger assembly are allowed to process. This is actually very like the way the UK Parliament is run. I'm not familiar with 'CRG'. I am though, fully aware that the policy regarding cover restrictions is dominated by SAGE "The Science" the members of which are unelected and of dubious ideological motivation.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 SAGE have repeatedly called for 'zero infections' before lockdowns can be lifted. Make sense to you?
1
@nigelsynnott7344 Susan Michie has repeatedly stated that we cannot even think of lifting lockdowns until we have attained zero infections.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 She has spoken on BBCR4 throuhout this and last year. I don't write down dates but I have heard her say twice, that we need to pursue a 'zero covid' goal.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 Do you note down the date of everything you hear on the radio?
1
@nigelsynnott7344 Why would you make such a thing up?
1
@nigelsynnott7344 I'll talk about what you want mate. Fire away.

@bbbf09 The MEPs are in a talking shop with no executive powers. Same with the UK Parliament. All a sham and everything goes the one way: globalism.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 The UK's period in the EU saw the same one-way devolvement of power. This inexorable shift was done, courtesy of the way that the EU parliament is reduced to a talking shop, with the direction of policy steered by a tiny ruling clique. No-one gets to vote on who is in that group. Same with the UK Parliament.
1
@nigelsynnott7344 I suspect that, were we to be able to discuss these matters more fully - unconstrained by this format - we would find much common ground. It's refreshing anyhow, to receive opposition stated in the clear manner you have. My take on our current leaders is that they are embarked on a venture that is without historical precedent. Very dark times are ahead.
1
@bbbf09 MEPs are given to deliberate whatever the Commission sees fit. It's all angled by them towards centralisation/globalisation. That's why all the travel is in that direction. Commissioners are not appointed by my government. I don't hold up my government as a model - it too is corrupt, being run on similar lines with the rump of members kept away from selection until they get the nod from the controllers. It's been a sham since before WWI. My beef is with both houses; and cabbages like you.
1
@bbbf09 I am a European - a responsible European. I saw that the EU had been captured by socialism. I voted to escape the clutches of the EU. No vote is available that will offer escape from the socialism that presides over UK politics; should it present itself, it will have my vote.
1
@bbbf09 So much presumption in so few words. Top marks. You know nothing of me. When the fascists actually do show their hand and they are coming at us (won't be too long now) people like me will stand and fight them. What will you do?
