Hang on though. I'm just a layman with no clinical or scientific knowledge. As so many others did, I believed what the government told us back in March 2020. However, within a month I smelled that something was just not stacking up, so I scanned the internet to consult the top virologists and epidemiologists, to find that what Whitty and Vallance and Johnson were saying, ran counter to the protocols recognised for decades regarding the handling of viral outbreaks. It was clear that something was very wrong As welcome as Toby Young's input is here; as admiring as I am of his work on other issues; I have to ask why has it taken him almost two years to put his shoulder to the task of calling-out the catastrophe caused by such misguided policies? Along with Douglas Murray and Rod Liddle, two other excellent commentators who very recently seem to have roused themselves on the issue of our national and the global incarceration - the inestimable damage to so many lives; the question that has to be asked is, where on earth have you been while the economy has been strangled? While so many have lost their livelihoods and some, their lives to a lockdown that could not ever have worked?
