Never worn one since I did my research to find they don't stop viral transmission. Anyone who challenges me as I walk into the supermarket, I just ask them if they'd like to come to an agreement: I'll pretend that the mask they are wearing does a damned thing other than keep the doom narrative alive; if they'll pretend I'm wearing a mask.

@olafbloodaxe5931 Government selects the members of the advisory group, SAGE. Strange that for 16 months they have been the sole providers of 'the science'.

@olafbloodaxe5931 Boris Johnson assured the nation, early doors, that he would be guided by the science. That has amounted to listening to every word SAGE has supplied, and complying with it. He has consulted in token fashion, a small number of scientists outside that group, with the result that he has swerved not one bit from the original SAGE directions. SAGE is a selection of scientists who seem to have a very narrow idea of how we should deal with our situation.

@olafbloodaxe5931 You are misguided. The very crucible of variants is the continued length of the pandemic. Left to its natural course it would run out of susceptible hosts and wane.

@olafbloodaxe5931 Yes. It's called fate. It's a planet Earth thing and you are part of it. Every year we lose tens of thousands in UK to flu. We are hit, some die and the vast majority live on. Why have we taken so long to shut down our societies to save all those millions of people?
