The whole cancelling, woke state, came up through what we called 'political correctness', and there in that labelling is the clue as to their method. They know that most people just want to live a quiet life and not offend anyone. They know that people overwhelmingly have a better nature that will select the easy option - go with the flow. Further, they know that people are 'unconsciously astute' so that they pick up on oblique signals - the more signal, the more it is received, bolstered. The strategy then, has been to prominently and repeatedly vocalise advocation of whatever social adaptation is desired. The drip feed lays a base of supposed authority and on this base the new social construction can be built. It is actually a very simple process not unlike the training of dogs. That it should be applied to fellow humans is distasteful to some people and perfectly acceptable to others. The former group sit by in their blithe confidence that things will right themselves; while the latter get on with the business of wresting power.
