The idea that Ukraine has a chance of withstanding the force set against them is preposterous. Just what is going on with the BBC these days, takes some figuring-out. It's as though the recruitment and training of staff over the past few years has been tailored to provide the British public with reporting that leaves them totally in the dark.

@nic.h Neither you nor I know the casualty figures on both sides. However, given that this is, as you rightly observe, attritional warfare, and as it is universally recognised that most casualties come as a result of artillery fire, it follows that with the approximately 8:1 fire ratio in Russia's favour, then the casualties can only reflect that same imbalance. As far as interference goes, this war would never have been waged had the US/UK combine and its NATO front not decided to march ever closer to Russia's border. Why does the US insist on its Monroe Doctrine while Russia is supposed to sit there and watch its security destroyed?

@nic.h This war was planned by the Clinton administration and pursued by every one since. Do some reading - I suggest you start with the recent book "Hubris" by Jonathan Haslam. By no means is it all in Russia's favour, but it reveals much that you obviously don't know.
