How - if the Telegraph reports on Ukraine are so encompassing of the context that surrounds this conflict and the history that has led to the current situation - is there no mention of the concerted efforts made, since the Clinton administration and in each since, to encroach ever further eastward, so that Russia finds itself increasingly faced by NATO bases, targeted by NATO missiles? Is it legitimate simply to discard such historically verifiable developments as being simply 'Kremlin narrative'?
There seems to be an essential flouting of any sense of fairness and balance in the general media in the UK, when Russia's actions are discussed. The US has very wisely, since 1823, buttressed itself from the potential danger posed by any foreign power, by upholding the Monroe Doctrine. The presence of foreign militaries - even any untoward 'influence' thereby, is simply forbidden in the US hemisphere. If for instance, Mexico were to allow Chinese bases to be built on its territory, the reaction from the US military would be swift and decisive.
Why then should we expect the Russians to stand back and passively observe the gathering of force built-up all along its western borders?
