"...we are not a socialist society..." The US have just been taken over by socialists. They're calling themselves 'Democrats', somewhat cheekily.

@darylross8059 And never has any socialist/communist government installed a list like that in one go, barring full scale revolution. It will all be installed bit by bit as soon as the lockdowns have killed off small/medium businesses and the workforce put at the mercy of the state.

@darylross8059 Not that old chestnut. So Soviet Russia was a free-enterprise zone was it? Pol Pot was just messing around? As far as 'equal access' is concerned, everything needs to be paid for and if everything is made free, then why would I bother getting out of bed?

@darylross8059 I'm happy to agree with you that capitalism has been corrupted and it's in need of putting back into shape. Taking away people's freedom to make their own way is not the answer. I'm not scared of socialism; I'm wise enough to be very wary of its claims time and again in history.

@darylross8059 Everyone has access to taking power over their individual economic situation - until socialists take it away and then it's purely at their dictate how much money you can have.
