Maté's introduction suggests a rot in the Democrats that goes back to the Carter administration. Later, the similarity is pointed out of the disconnect between the Democrats and their former working-class base; and that same parting that the British Labour Party has undergone. How all of this can be recognised without further investigation, is disappointing. Carter's presidency was the first to give positions of power to the Trilateral Commission that had been started in 1973 collaboratively between Zbigniew Brzezinski and David Rockefeller; our beloved Keir Starmer is a member to this day. Since its inception it has seen to it that the left/right struggle on either side of the Atlantic, is kept going as a space-filling pantomime while the real work is carried on in the background. Hence, our Democrat and Labour parties are as defunct as are the Tories and Republicans. Campaigners can worthy-up with raised fist, calling for a $15/hr minimum wage, blissfully ignoring the fact that all the people who might gain from such a move are either on zero wages due to the global shutdown of trade (by guess who?) or they are using their stimmy to buy bitcoin and watch Netflix and wait to see what the global endgame serves-up.

Maté posits a war-mongering Clinton against a 'clown' Trump, whose crime would appear to be his inability to successfully attain his stated, admirable goal of breaking-up the Washington cabal. He describes the 2016 election result as a dark outcome; presumably he would have celebrated, had Clinton's war-mongering been given four years in which to ply its trade?
