Thanks for posting this. My Dad started taking me to watch Avenue most home matches from '66 until the sad end when they got kicked out of the Fourth Division. Managed to see Kevin Hector play in one of his last matches before he went to Derby. Funnily, it was the derby against the vile Bradford City!!! We always sat in the main stand that always smelled of pipe tobacco and was all timber built. We sat just behind and to the left of the Big Misters' box and I'm pretty sure I can see Dad with his gigs on at 2:25. It was a dismal task usually, just watching them get beaten most times, but we stuck with them, until we couldn't. Loved the green and white kit and hated the switch to white shirt with black, red and yellow hoop around the chest. Toward the end there would be four blokes walk the edge track of the pitch at half time, each holding a corner of a sheet into which we would throw coins to help the club - that's how desperate things got. So many of my mates switched over to City after the drop but I never could. Daft I know. Anyway, lovely memories of Dad, so thanks again.
