chris You got your kit bag ready for the flight east?

laars How many military bases does Russia have close to US borders? How many invasions has the US carried-out? Appeasement? You are in such a bubble mate.

It's over Mr Burns. It was good while it lasted, but it's done. I'm not anti-US but something has gone seriously awry here of late. There certainly is a way for the US and its followers to be a positive part of the future - but this that we are witnessing, presided over by you and your coterie, isn't it. This is the way to great suffering and loss. Please find a better path than this.

Ijansick I see him in precisely the same way. He can't see, from his cosseted envirnment, how things have changed. He will get such a shock.

riso Maybe try not build offensive military facilities ever closer to its borders. Might that be worth a try?

Bunch You got your kit packed yet?

"Is what we are seeing out of the Americans, does this represent some sort of fundamental change....." Yes, a long overdue change and for the better. The magnitude of what is taking place needs to be recognised by Europeans. The post-WWII order has been maintained way beyond its sell-by-date. The Hegseth/Vance pronouncements of the past few days have put it to rest. Those who cannot adapt will just fall by the wayside. Their successors have the chance to take part in a whole new structure.

agaragar Not in those capital letters it's not. The ice melts over periods, then the ice freezes again. Millions of years it has been this way.

How out of the loop is Mr McLaughlin? Only someone who is not keeping abreast of the current battlefield and geopolitical situations could be "having trouble getting their heads around this".

These two men are from the old time. They're gone.

What right has anyone have who is in the US, UK or EU, to have anything to do with Russia and it's oil? If you don't want to buy oil from Russia, then that's fine; just leave them to sell to people who do want it.

If this man is an example of the thinking that's going on in Washington, then we are heading for a total war that will kill us all. He displays a level of delusion as to the changed realities of geo-political power. He speaks as though from a position that the West occupied thirty years ago. He portrays a Russia whose economy is in crisis, with not a word of the horrendous problems that afflict the US and, to an even greater extent, an increasingly impoverished Europe. Alongside this there is the complete absence of any recognition of the reasons why this war came about - was made to come about. Over decades, the US/UK have worked to push further and further east, the threat to Russia's security, ignoring all of its pleas to stop. Why would Russia go to such lengths at such great cost, only to put the brakes on and halt so that a Ukrainian force can be built once again to better wage war in a few years' time? How could any agreement with the Western powers be considered worthwhile, when they have a consistent record of faking and playing for time as at Minsk?

"I really don't like to do politics..." This from a man who insists that Russia and China are to be restricted in their ability to influence developments in the Arctic region. How political does it get? The Greenland issue is timely for Breedlove. He has spent the past three years speaking about the Ukraine situation - more accurately the NATO assault on Russia - in quintessential 'bomb the bastards' mode, and all of his predictions have gone tits-up. He must find some relief in being able to vent his spleen in a fresh direction. Here he opens on this new theatre, in blithe regard of any sovereignty claims of the people of Greenland or of the existing arrangement with Denmark. In his book, Ukraine's right to sovereignty is sacrosanct, while Greenland can be just grabbed without so much as a second thought.

How to get rid of our 'adversaries'. Don't make adversarial moves toward other major powers. 1. Stop baiting over Taiwan so that China is not made to feel insulted.. 2. Stop giving the support to Ukraine that threatens Russian security. 3. Trade fairly and peacefully. 4. Disband NATO.

Alfa Is that "is" or "was"?

In what way do either Russia or China threaten you, do you think? How many Russian or Chinese military bases are there spread across the globe? How many has the US?

@richardodonoghue Let's see what the Breedloves of this world can do eh?
