  5. If this man is an example of the thinking that's going on in Washington, then we are heading for a total war that will kill us all. He displays a level of delusion as to the changed realities of geo-political power. He speaks as though from a position that the West occupied thirty years ago. He portrays a Russia whose economy is in crisis, with not a word of the horrendous problems that afflict the US and, to an even greater extent, an increasingly impoverished Europe. Alongside this there is the complete absence of any recognition of the reasons why this war came about - was made to come about. Over decades, the US/UK have worked to push further and further east, the threat to Russia's security, ignoring all of its pleas to stop. Why would Russia go to such lengths at such great cost, only to put the brakes on and halt so that a Ukrainian force can be built once again to better wage war in a few years' time? How could any agreement with the Western powers be considered worthwhile, when they have a consistent record of faking and playing for time as at Minsk?
