Price levels can fluctuate in a localised manner due to many factors but true inflation occurs when price levels go up across the board and as a consequence of an increase in the currency supply unaccompanied by any increase in production. When the money printers were set to run red in 2020 to pay people to do nothing, inflation was inevitable and no-one should be surprised, especially professional economists and central bankers.
