  2. Your thinking is in need of an update. As so many more people, you seriously neglect how Russia has transformed itself from what it was when your scythe was made. So close to the 'fighting with shovels' meme that was worn-out as soon as it was coined. You posit a 'free market' US/West, as against a Russian 'oligarchy'. So how should we look upon the exploits of the likes of Larry Fink and Jeff Bezos? Are they oligarchs? What of the antics of the Federal Reserve which wields dictatorial power as clumsily as the most hidebound commissariat; presiding over a US economy that is now $34Trillion in debt and increasing exponentially. How does a monetary economist think that is going to end? Organic farming in California, you hold up as a beacon? The US, along with countries right across the 'free' West, is in the process - by means of so many 'climate crisis' measures - of evicting farmers from their land so that the Bill Gates elite class of property barons can own it all.
