Further to Mr Davis' early point that outlines the complacency in the West. Particularly in the English speaking countries, there seems to be the psychologically embedded assumption, that they cannot lose "because they didn't lose back then". They came through WWI after a poor start, eventually to triumph due to the strength of their domination of the global economy. They pretty much repeated the same act to come out on top in 1945, and they have ruled the roost throughout the lives of everyone who is alive today. NATO in essence, is the civil marriage between the UK and the US, with a gaggle of bridesmaids to make things look wholesome. It is the UK/US pact. As such, they look forward to the clash with any and all competition, in the sure knowledge that there can be a good outcome to WWIII. They are in for a huge shock.

Meet the new bullshitter - same as the old bullshitter.

Austin is a buffoon in the company of buffoons. That way, he looks normal. How have people of this shoddy quality been able to attain such crucially important positions?

It is distressing to hear these two fair-minded men, along with so many others of similar status, who are 'of' the West and so can only refer habitually to the 'us' and 'we' that they recognise as their own - yet they speak, as it were, somehow outside of and not part of what that West is doing. They find themselves - both former holders of high office - totally disenfranchised to the same degree as do hundreds of millions of ordinary people of what we have in the past known as 'the West' but is no more. We are truly in the grip of the most evil, powerful, underhand regime.

As soon as any peace were secured, Ukraine would be rushed into NATO and Russia would find itself having to fight much longer and on a much wider front.

@djgk2003 I'm familiar with that contraction thanks. It's just that your meaning is not clear at all - in fact it makes no sense whatsoever.
6
htidye Well done. You are not alone.

neon Awful the way things have turned out old chap?

@neonlight1214 How old are you? Seven?

@ Look up 'Monroe Doctrine'. Find out what it is and does. Then ask yourself why the US operates such a doctrine and why Russia should not.

The Trump promise - we need to stop believing he can, or even plans to end this war. The idea that he has anything to offer that could satisfy the Russian security concerns that brought about the hostilities, is based on hope and hype only. When Trump takes office and the Russian advances carry-on without delay, then the ego will come into play - not just that of Trump but of the American nation, urged on by the MSM. January the 20th, is looked on as being the finish line; it could just as well be the start of a very dangerous escalation.

Great interview, hosted well. That verbal slip he admits to: the reflex reference to 'the Soviets' is understandable and forgivable, but it does point to a very grave problem in the US and UK mindset regarding Russia. Yes I am in that same age range that grew up with the 'Red Threat' continually thrust at us through the media, and perhaps at that time quite justified. But we really do need to slap our collective Western face and move on. Too many just don't seem to be able to do that and this is giving the dreadful MSM narrators a free ride in their drip feeding us the most egregious lies.

orland For a short while.

There has been a video that showed aerial 'stills' of the plant before and after the attack, and the damage looks minimal. We just can't trust anything too much, but my hunch is that Larry Johnson is nearer the truth. It is telling that there was an emergency NATO meeting yesterday; also notable that reports of missile strikes on Russian targets seems to have dried up.

Over and again, European politicians laud their commitment to the defence of democracy and freedom. This is while the people of Germany - just one example mentioned here by Herr Barb - are harried into a state of fear by their government so that they dare not speak up in protest at the process that is taking Europe into a needless and incredibly dangerous conflict.

Looks like the Sumy casualties were given up by the Zelensky regime, in an attempt to gain their own Srebrenica moment.

"...it's the natural inclination to believe that your government is telling the truth." Maybe that was the case at one time; but then we hit March 23rd, 2020, and all that was changed.

Excellent rebuttal Sir. The entirety of the Western MSM is festooned with characters like Amanpour and Gessen, who relentlessly purvey the same wicked debasement of what is actually happening and what politicians are actually doing. Her in her haute couture and him with his funky spec's and natty little ear stud - barf inducing.

Whoever that interviewer is, he shows that level of mid-wittedness that is all too typical of those who do his job. His whole framework is just tacked-together from the hand-outs from Memetics Central. In the general sense: his 'rewarding invasion' line of thought can only be upheld by those who refuse to look into events prior to February 2022 - not weeks, but decades. In the particular sense: the recent Oreshnik strike on Dnipro, he interprets in knee-jerk fashion, as being a nuclear threat; it is way more significant than that.

That the US seeks the counsel of people like Peter Navarro, explains much about the current dire state of American trade and manufacturing. He is a malign simpleton.
1
Although I agree with his arguments, from the outset, Mr Mearsheimer seems to be attached to - despite his sharp analysis - positing a 'we' that no longer exists. A very large and increasing proportion of the people in the countries that constitute NATO, do not consider themselves as being in any way a part of what their governments are doing. The people who devised this conflict and who are happy to pump money into the killing machine that has done so much damage to both Ukraine and Russia while not doing any fighting ("The best money we ever spent": Senator Lyndsey Graham) are the very antithesis of any 'we' that I would support.

"Porcupine strategy"? The difference between a porcupine and the EU parliament: a porcupine has pricks on the outside.

Larry's analogy of the US thinking it's the only beautiful woman on an island of sailors - Bonnie Blue?

Well done on being given a platform at the BBC - a long time coming. I realise that you had to be careful how you couched things, but what stand out to me are the references to 'we' and 'our', as though there was a general public out there who were complicit with what is being done by the British government. This is a war that was engineered by 'our' leaders. It is disgusting and totally unnecessary. Given that, please do not assume that all people in Britain are party to proceedings. The phrase, 'Not In My Name' is perfectly applicable.

jolan "Oriented" is fine. It's widely used and recognised in dictionaries. It's also not ugly and jarring as is 'Orientated'.

Who is Cavoli's boss, with the power to sack him?
1
Mr Ignazio, as steeped as he is in the Western narrative, has at least come to the realisation that it is Russia who will decide the terms on which the war is ended. The antidote to his dismay at this prospect, would be an honest investigation into what led to Russia's invasion. It would be good to have him back to discuss with another guest, say Professor Jeffrey Sachs, the details of NATO's part in the creation of this conflict.

@debasismohanty1952 Not all, of course. May I enquire as to the sources you consult to gain information?

Any peace deal that does not compel Washington and London to fully admit to the aims and exploits of the Neocon push to use Ukraine as their proxy to fight and weaken Russia so as to more easily take control of Russian territory and its resources, is merely an interlude prior to the next bout.
1
Well let's try to look on the bright side: the bosses at LBC must have been aware of Daniel Davis's profile and his stance. They knew what to expect and they gave him a platform anyway. Could this be them having decided it really is time they introduced their audience to the truth around the Ukraine conflict? How refreshing to hear the interviewer's stock narrative assumptions being set straight. Such a change from their usual offering of a succession of tub-thumping bell- ends.

@djgk2003 It's not a good basis on which to communicate, don't you think?
1
@ I take it that in making your comment, you wished to communicate your thought to others. In that you failed, simply because you abbreviated your sentence to the point that it was impossible to figure out.
