Disappear? The mess that America is now, particularly including the messes we're making all over the world, is what Abe did coming to fruition.

If Lincoln had wanted peace he would have let the southern states secede in peace. He wanted to kill off government by the consent of the governed and replace it with government by coercion. The only kind of peace Lincoln wanted was the peace of fully submissive slaves.

@TheEGames But that was exactly the kind of peace and the only kind of peace Lincoln wanted. It makes every bit as much sense to say Lincoln worked so hard for peace as to say a slave master "worked so hard for peace" by whipping his slave into submission (which is to say it doesn't make any sense at all.) It's completely absurd to describe violent subjugation (whether of multiple states or of an individual slave) as "working so hard for peace."

> determination for freedom and unity Freedom??? Denying other people the right to independence and self-government is the exact opposite of freedom. And unity? Violently subjugating other people is the kind of "unity" a slave master has with a slave. Calling that "unity" is absurd.

@AidanDaGreat Even the recorded narratives of former slaves reveal what a complete lie your narrative is. Stealing from civilians and burning and destroying what they didn't want to steal (killing livestock and leaving it to rot...) was the norm. And it was the norm because officially condoned from the top. Murder and rape may not have been officially condoned, but of course that's going to go along with pillaging and burning, and the pillaging and burning was officially condoned.
