Cromwell ended up just as a king by another title - but no surprise those around him would soon grovel to the son of the very king they had removed after Cromwell passed.

@Akirathehusky Ok I'm going to declare myself Emperor and get a good million people to agree with me - does that make me so? No, it doesn't and it doesn't make any of them royalty either. Respect is to be earned and they have done NOTHING.

@Akirathehusky Big deal, so do actors and athletes - but at least they do something to justify their bubble. And for all your talk about no freedom and tiresome visits - they've never had to choose between paying a bill or putting food on their child's plate, they've never been at risk of having their home taken off them and by hell nobody in their right mind cares about their opinion if they turn up somewhere. If they don't want that life and want to whinge - they can do the first dignified thing a "royal" has done since Charles I and that's renounce their "title" and dissolve that ridiculous estate which none of them ever earned; not during its founding and not today. Had they earned it and built it on their own merit I'd respect them, but they havent: they're a lineage of spoilt brats.

@Akirathehusky At least you have a stand that's honest I'll give you that much. However there is absolutely no purpose of royalty to exist, nor of a compulsive reason for us to sustain it. And if you wish not to debate that, then all on you. Take the responsibility of retaining them if that pleases you, but leave the rest of us out of that cost - their financial draining on the taxpayer, the signing into law through their parliament all of it.
