Though technically we go further then that - given how the Saxons came in from the Germanic tribes after Rome up and left and the Britons were constantly assaulted by the Gaelics and Picts - the Saxons were welcomed in, until they then decided they were the new status quo; creating kingdoms such as Northumberland, East Angelia and Wessex - the latter from which the country of England descends.
