Orwell would turned in his grave if he saw how right he turned out to be.

@RillUK I certainly have researched it and frankly his views and theirs aren't too diverse.

@bluegoose777 Given how doublespeak and revisionism are two aspects the status quo utilises today as they did then and before - his observation of the vehicle was well noted and well founded. Another wrote how democracy is always a day away from dictatorship and I personally say that the greatest trick a dictator can play is convincing those who they own that their only choices are within the system that keeps them. And people for it, either out of subversion or the fear of just having to do things themselves: they'd sooner live under the illusion of democratic liberty than to live in actual liberty. And then people wonder why things don't change regardless of who wins in democracy. It's a huge red herring and no one wants to admit it.

@RillUK If we're not already.

@bluegoose777 The nature of liberty is responsibility for the decisions made for ones own actions and the accountability for them and that's what people balk at generally. If the status quo fell tomorrow, most have become so dependent on it that they wouldn't be able to keep going. And that is where it will ultimately end - the snag with progressvisim is that it must always keep going in one direction and not contradict it's own narrative. But that becomes harder and outright impossible to devise and even more so to enforce and then it winds up redacting on previous issues rendering the narrative pointless and it's own virtues null and void. Tolerance and apathy are the final gasps in a dying society and that's where we're headed; with people either blinded by the system or so desperately dependent that they'll fight to defend it.

@PeteH0121 Those who are elected are just puppets - the faces of blame. Truth is they all bow and answer to the same few masters that own everyone else, regardless of party and message: their role is simply to fool the people in category A, B and so on, in thinking within the system there is a choice that makes a difference - when the only real choice is to accept giving up control or to reject it... and the masses naively give it up every time an election comes along.

@bluegoose777 And when that end comes: what will the people do. Most I predict, will not make it; vae victus, one way or another.

They're unelected, but their puppets are.
