Oh I'd be on board with that!

No, OP has a solid point, @TheBigExclusive "When in Rome, do as Romans do" so I respect a country enough that I'm going to learn their etiquette and enough of their language to get by if I'm going to visit. Maybe everywhere else should be doing the same.

@1EnZBosS1 Its a double edged sword - cause given the political correctness and DEI bs of how things have been in the UK and the states, do we REALLY want to have them be inflicted with that as a side effect?

I dunno - probably because the average Japanese man or woman is more concerned about making ends meet instead of where they can go and travel. Y'know, actually looking after themselves and trying to keep their country afloat instead of rushing elsewhere as an influx.

@magfam9980 Maybe so, however - I say this as respectful as I can be and I'm sure you already know this: it is THEIR country and THEIR issues. It is not your place, or mine or anyone else who isn't of Japan, to go and demand changes. Roles reversed, once upon a time, we would have expected the same thing. Though looking here in my own nation - we seem to encourage women to see motherhood as more a burden than a blessing and it's easy to see how and why everything has gone so wrong with ideals such as that. My point is that we need to deal with the speck of dust in our own eyes before paying any heed to that in anyone else's.

@TheBigExclusive They're risking biting a poison apple with that...

@hijous So tell me: You comfortable with someone dictating to you about how they want you to keep your home? How to spend your money? All the while they're in your home?
1
@hijous My point is that if you're not prepared to be told how to keep and have your own home, don't go demanding folk how to keep and have their own country.

@hijous I'm not being hostile, I'm just saying how it is. And I live by a philosophy of expecting others to practice what they preach - regardless of what it is. In this case you say they should learn our language, never considered that we should learn theirs when in their country, as we'd expect them to learn ours when in ours?

@hijous One easy way to cop out of a conversation.
