I'm not American but seeing as it's not much better then my own nation's I'd say the answer is no. Governments are NOT elected to dictate as to what facts people should be made privy to and which they should be denied. Their role is to obey orders, not to originate them; to ensure the nation runs smoothly, not force conformity of its people to conveniences on government's part. It's why I reject any form of politics having learned so much of it in my life that involves offering up my consent and control to someone I don't know, nor even met and expect them to be in my interest. I'd sooner resort to what I call Independent Anarchistic Meritocracy.
