@dianeparker5993 not really, the empire was a financial mess by the start of the 20th century, by 1937 the Pound Sterling was no longer valued by Sterling Silver and World War II more or less bankrupted it (You can thank Chamberlain for that cockup; a war that should have ended in a few months at most waged on for six years because for the first ten months, he did nothing.) we had no choice but to dismantle. The weakness in the British Empire is the same as in all Empires; too much growth spreads the necessary needs too far and thus too thin. I believe it's abolition to be a good thing for the same reason I stand by my choice to vote Brexit: the notion of imperialism is outdated and excessive. Now we just need to do the same with the royal family and we might actually get Britain to be Great again and for better reason.
