  3. RAIDER GAINZ - ALL police vehicles are built by FORD at the Chicago assembly plant. With few exceptions by other manufactures. Fleet vehicles account for maybe a few hundred? Production is 600 units PER SHIFT! There were THREE shifts at one point!!! I take it you don’t work on an assembly line! I do!

  5. Daughter of Zion - Ford is retooling their Chicago plant this March for the new Explorer and Aviator. I’m not sure you know what you are talking about. And the Mustang is going to radically change in 2020. So that will require a shut down and retool. Their next after Chicago.

  6. elr2141979 - GM is in a situation where they need to turn to the UAW and renegotiate. When the collapse hit in 2008 Ford didn’t take the bail out. The employees took a pay cut to keep the company going. It’s only now 10 years later that they are back to where they were. People just don’t want cars. Ford is not making them in the States anymore, with the exception of the Mustang. But that’s a “Pony car”! Different then a boring car. SUV’s are more profitable but even those are getting phased out. The new class of vehicle is pretty cool. Lower, wider, faster, longer.... you would have to see it. Come to the 2020 Chicago auto show if you want to see some radical changes.
