I have a deep appreciation for James wanting things standard.
2600
I want a bumper sticker that says “STANDARD” But then it would mean the car would not be standard? Hhhmmm

Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken!

DRIVETRIBE - Where’s my free bumper sticker?

James looks like he’s going to tell me that my father was seduced by the dark side of the force.

Hatagashira - Holy shit! My idea!

I wonder if James did anything like the skit he did for Autocar again? Knowing James he would take it to the grave. Only to be discovered hundreds of years later.

“STANDARD”- James May

Midlife crisis is at 40! At the latest!

I had a 71MGB for a while. I sanded it down and painted it, drove it for a month then the guy I bought it from bought it back. I miss that little car.

@rishivikram6956 - What’s Casual?

It’s a sexy car, red is a sexy color. Beautiful! DON’T WRECK IT!

Glad the boys are having fun.

Citrus James! More citrus!

Only 456 mph to go! I don’t see the point? The car is fine but there are only a handful of places where you can do this.

Anyone notice the Time Machine in the back?
1
I steal signs all the time! Road signs mostly but lately anything related to COVID!

Worked in a bike shop for a summer. Due to the shipping company’s not caring what so ever as to the handling of the package ALL rims have to be made true.
1
Even after a trip around the yard I’d be sore.
1
Motorcycles? How many kids do you have Richard?
1
But it’s STANDARD???

I’ve owned three Opel’s: a 1970 GT, a 1972 GT and a 1973 GT. They are very lovable, but two of the three were donors.

I owned an Opel GT

I have an issue with my secondary air injection system. It’s a 2002 Chevrolet S-10, I’ve changed out the whole system twice over the last 17 years but still it gets destroyed? Should I route the air intake behind the air cleaner? Will this cause power loss? Only James May would know.
1
Nope! I do as I like.
1
Yay! Mail time!!!

Only issue with Tesla is if you need servicing. You CANNOT work on it yourself. They’ll disable it.
1
T. S - Can’t go down to a local parts distributor and get parts. You MUST go through Tesla.
1
T. S - Yes I have done research! If it’s not a Ford it’s CRAP!
1
T. S - I build them on the line! If I didn’t build it, it’s shit!
1
Tokarev - It’s the idea that they have a monopoly on parts and service. You can ONLY go to them... for everything!
1
Tokarev - I don’t go for that. In my youth I worked at a service center. I don’t trust other men with my vehicles. I do all my own service. I have four cars and three motorcycles. I’ve had them down to their individual components more then once.
1
Tokarev - I actually work ON THE LINE for Ford. Motor line to be specific. Put them together, take them apart, put them together again. It’s all I do. All day every day. Cars, bikes, instruments, TV’s, houses. It’s my life. But when I need a part. I don’t like it when I MUST go to only one vendor.

Watch what happens if you mention “Terroir” to James.

Can’t stand it when people think electric cars are the cleanest. The cleanest car is the one that doesn’t get scrapped.
1
Runar Andersen - Yes and no. Buying an purely electric car has serious limitations. I’m fine with an electric motor as long as there is a gasoline generator to extend the range if need be in the car.
1
Runar Andersen - I work in automotive manufacturing. I get what you are saying. I’m not sure exactly how “clean” an electric car is suppose to be. To me the cleanest car is the one that’s not regarded as disposable. I live in the States. I do drive well over 1000 miles on occasion. Have to get to the cruise ships. They are not close to where I live. Last trip I took was 1200 miles ONE WAY. Electric cars have their place. Now Ford is making a hybrid Explorer. If it can run on the battery alone for at least 20 miles then I’ll probably get one. Considering for me it’s almost free.
1
Imagine if this was the DeLorean time machine. James going around it for hours taking little bits off. Saying, no no wrong, I don’t think so, god almighty, why, For just days.
1
I’m fine with an electric vehicle as long as it has an on board generator to charge it. Like the Hammerhead Eagle I-Thrust!
1
So a $323 million dollar production run?
1
I want to know why the engineers that design cars ONLY design them to be put together. They take no consideration into “what if” situations. Such as replacing a starter motor. I work with them! The answer I got is that as long as it lasts over 35,000 miles it’s not their problem.
1
I owned a 73 Opel GT. It’s a combination of the two! I miss it everyday!
1
I owned 1973 Opel GT. There’s NO modifying it. Just getting it to run and stop are hard enough.
