On average unions increase profits. So they would be richer. Amazon and other corporations are just too stupid to value anything other than immediate costs. They can't fathom long term, big picture planning.

@wellyforpm It's more likely that you just didn't notice their efforts. Did things get worse? If not, that could have been them. Were things not terrible? If so that was probably them.
