@Bluebelle51 fatalism is futile

@andrewherrera7735 pffft Doing a speech isn't the same as doing an interview. Campaigning is mostly conveying a message, not engaging in a dialogue. There's debate but it's against other candidates. Campaigning doesn't happen when senators are in session and vice versa. They require different things.

@toddstevens13 false equivalence to justify fatalism or other futile positions that only serve your conscience

@Bluebelle51 way to completely ignore the point, again

Jack Strawb That was honesty. Either you're too pinheaded to process that I was being sincere, or you're being a hypocrite. Either way, your opinion is worth less than nothing.

Manchin gets his way by siding with Republicans. If Bernie pulls the same move it doesn't align him with half of the senate. I think the difference in dynamic is significant here, because Manchin is basically already a Republican and could (formally) flip. What's Bernie's biggest threat? Handing power over to the Republicans, which would be even less desirable for him than the current situation? Bear in mind that all the GOP needs is to have nothing get done. They don't need to get a majority. They just need to obstruct and if the Democrats do that to themselves that's good for them whether it's done by Manchin or a unified progressive caucus.

@ericthomas917 You clearly don't know what the word "fact" means, or think it's appropriate to misuse it in service of hyperbole. Either way: no.

@ericthomas917 I've heard less reductive perspective than yours in children's cartoons.
