So , in summary, how successful was Eisenhower ? He humiliated his allies. France practically left NATO under De Gaulle Britain spiralled downwards and was less able to assist in containing the Soviets. A triumphant Nasser launches intolerable provocation by closing the Straits of Tiran , thus ensuring the Six Day War. Soviet influence grows exponentially in the Middle East . The Third World hates the USA , regardless Maybe not a master stroke by the USA

Excellent series. Full of detail I had never heard before. Want to know what the USA does when someone threatens THEIR Canal. ? Check out the American invasion of Panama.

Chris Avram sure. But a realistic depiction of the relationship between men and women, not a poisoned narrative of female subjugation at the hands of brutal men. Have you ever wondered why there’s no discussion in progressive circles of actual , current , undeniable female exploitation? I’m talking about Islamic societies.
8
Larry Phischman it may not be what it seems. FDR was a paraplegic. And upper class women like Eleanor often had a “ companion “ Such a relationship could be very close but was not overtly sexual
5
VatnsFjall So you’re saying that Eisenhower’s actions had a positive effect on the West’s position?
4
It’s a fact , the veneer of civilisation falls away quickly when challenged by self interest. Who would have thought that Dutch and Belgians would be the cruelest colonisers?
4
What exactly was FDR capable of doing with his girlfriends? He died in the arms of his lover It seems physical intimacy is not necessary to qualify a relationship as adulterous
4
I think you overate UN General Assembly resolutions They are without force and purely declamatory.
3
nirfz There is no requirement to allow an enemy to chose the time of war. Nasser often threatened to exterminate the Jews. Why must Israel allow him the first blow?

David Wright I beg to differ. There is no photo in existence that I’m aware of , that shows FDR standing , even momentarily , unaided. He always has a burly person beside him to hold onto and the assistant shows the strain of giving support. Next Guillain =Barre is usually not attributable but when it is then it’s a particular bacterium not a virus. Lastly , FDR fully meets the definition of paraplegia. His sexual ability would be commensurate. He had a few dalliances but no recorded offspring post paralysis. There is an inference to be drawn but , granted , not proof
3
Yes, but he mispronounced it haha
2
Women’s “ blood sweat and tears”. Are you insane? Or just so gynocentric as to believe it
2
David Wright Beg to differ. I challenge you to show a photo of FDR standing without crutches or without holding onto someone. He fully satisfied criteria for paraplegia. One can speculate about some residual capacity to enable an erection but this would be minimal There is a photo of FDR receiving hydrotherapy beside a pool. The extent of atrophy of his legs is massive. There’s no way he could have stood up unaided let alone walked. Incidentally, G-B is usually unattributable but sometimes linked mostly to bacterial infection not viral
2
@cookingwithtool159 No there’s not. Not without someone holding him upright Just standing , no walking
2
@ellendunn559 sorry to be sceptical. But did his kids look like him?
2
@ellendunn559 you misunderstand the science. First , polio can paralyse motor neurones far from the area involved in reproduction. Second , the paralysis can be partial. However , we were not talking about your uncle We were talking about FDR and what he was doing with his girlfriends. Getting back to FDR he was a severe case. He was not able to stand unaided.....although someone for sure will say otherwise having been deceived by a staged photo. A revealing photo of FDR. sitting poolside at Warm Springs , shows the severe extent of atrophy of his lower limbs. By the way , the Catholic Church will not administer the sacrament of marriage to a couple if the groom has paraplegia as it is deemed he is incapable of reproduction, something the Church is weirdly obsessed about

When discussing the “ missile gap” it seemed the soviets had only a small number of warheads. Now , they seem to have many more. I haven’t done the maths but it seems that it doesn’t add up
1
RFTL My recollection is that the tally was for war heads as well
1
Well done. Minor quibble. BCG is not oral vax. Injected Remember TB is bacterial not viral. You got it right at the beginning

“I sweated blood “ is a figure of speech. “ Blood , sweat and tears “ is intended to be understood literally
1
“Asteroid destroys earth. Many women killed. “ To highlight the suffering of women during WW11 is in the same genre
1
Sadly , you don’t get it. Mentioning the female casualties, alone and in highlight , is the burden of my complaint .it accords their suffering a specialness that elevates it above the millions of exclusively male conscripts who did most of the dying. This misplaced focus is the basis of a gynocentric world view and it is why breast cancer looms so large in the public imagination, totally eclipsing prostate cancer a more common malady. Now , it seems female suffering is getting the same treatment. As Hilary Clinton once said “ It is women who are the chief victims of war”. Silly of me to think otherwise
1
World War Two I thought that ad hominem comments like “ low IQ” were banned. Despite your obvious abilities , you just don’t seem to be able to grasp my point. Here’s my last attempt. It’s like making a video on the ravages of Breast Cancer focusing on male victims , exclusively ( yes , they exist) without mentioning women See what the reaction would be. And then see if complainants are mollified by “ But , we make hundreds of hours on women victims”

TimeGhost History haha. You condemn yourself from your own mouth. Such a frothy condemnation and emotional reasoning. I nominate you as an honorary possessor of an XX chromosome
1
TimeGhost History This for the slow kids in the class , the ones whose mother drank through their pregnancy. Please remember to use your index finger while reading You rightly cover civilian casualties, privations on the home front This coverage is of HUMAN suffering , men and women. All good. But then you turn around and do a series on WOMEN’S suffering exclusively. This carries a message that women’s suffering is qualitatively different and more deserving of notice Ok. That’s it. I bow out. Some things are not to be

And Indonesia went on to become a peaceful and prosperous country with Sukarno devoting his life to the betterment of Indonesians , eschewing international grandstanding. Moreover , free and fair elections saw him handing over power to his democratically elected successor Corruption was successfully dealt with and Islamic radicalism never gained a foothold

@ashokafulcrum4795 you are engaging in semantic sophistry.
