  6. In Germany, there is a law that tackles online hate speech called Netzwerkdurchsetzungsgesetz. This law, which came into effect in 2018, requires social media platforms like Facebook, x and YouTube to quickly remove hate speech and other criminal content. the law requires platforms to: Remove or block clearly illegal content (such as hate speech, threats, or incitement) within 24 hours of being notified. In the event of unclear cases, they must investigate them within 7 days of being notified and decide whether the content should be removed. They also must publish transparent reports on the notifications and removals of content.
