@ursulaunterberger6305
Hi, I'm from Belgium.
Yes, we have Dries Van Langenhove, Filip Dewinter, Sam Van Rooy, Tom Vandendriesche who are obviously racists and fascists to the core and the far-right Vlaams Belang party in general. They are the second largest party here, but have never been in government because you have to form coalitions here and no other party wants to work with them. It's not a two party system like the US.
But even then, I don't see any politicians here with a track record of statements, lies and crimes that can even be compared to Trump's.
What I mean by "standing up"...
I think MSN bears a huge responsibility in sanewashing Trump. He can say whatever he wants, no one calls him to account.
Simple example, has a single journalist ever asked Trump how it is mathematically possible that MORE than 100% of jobs go to migrants? Journalists seem unprepared and rooted to the spot when Trump begins his bombardment of lies.
They laugh at it, they make jokes about it, but in the meantime he laughs right in their faces. If Trump is asked a difficult question, he simply walks away or talks about something else. I was so annoyed by the imperturbability.
Here, journalists are different, much more assertive. If a politician talks nonsense, they interrupt him and present the facts. They may not like it (and certainly not their voters), but they do it anyway.
