Well, unlike the US, it is not allowed in Europe to walk around with Nazi flags or give Hitler salutes from behind a lectern. Not even behind a presidential seal like Musk did.
In Germany, they know best what hate speech can lead to. In the US, racism and hate speech are so inherent that if you protest against them, they accuse you of being un-American.
Unlimited freedom is internally contradictory. Coexistence always presupposes restrictions on personal freedoms. My freedom ends where yours begins. Freedom in Europe is therefore created on the basis of the need of society, even if we experience it individually.
We don't want that in Europe, everything that is not allowed offline should also not be allowed online. Slander and defamation should be punishable again, just like a false identity and if social media platforms do not comply with those rules, they can be banned for all I care.
It has also become clear from Trump that the US and Europe are no longer allies, let alone we share the same values.
