We have social democracy which is based on capitalism and indeed still have social programs like universal healthcare and other social services like you said. However, these social programs are economically unsustainable and only work as long as our countries are allowed to take million dollar loans every year (in addition to high taxes) to cover the costs. So unless you want to go more in debt, you should not follow us.

Marxism advocates that the prolet ariat should own the means of production, while soci alism does not make such distinction and does not care who owns or controls the means of production, distribution and exchange as long as it's not the individual. In short, socialism is just collective ownership/control while marx ism is a more narrow, class/proletarian focused. @Kasen Charles: Healthcare in general is a political and economical issue that has nothing to do with christianity. Some of your muricans who are drooling after our european "free" healthcare... well, first off it's not free since everyone has to pay for it through taxes and here taxes are all time high, and also such economical model is simply not sustainable in the long run.
