Comments by "Historia, Magistra Vitae" (@Historia.Magistra.Vitae.) on "Mass ownership of rental property should be illegal: a rant." video.
"No, you shouldn't get to own more than 2 residential properties. Period." Why? Just because "you don't like it"? It's not exactly a valid argument. People should be free to own as many properties as they can with their money, however I can only wish them good luck maintaining such property-monstrosity. Let the market do its thing.

"I'd like to think the capita lism to soci alism transition is an inevitable historical development." It's not. There will be no such transition without a full blown civil war. Soci alism is unsustainable.

Sounds good as long as you are forced to build the house and do all the related work yourself. It's not a human right to force other people to do it for you, since that would be sla very. But then again, you could just move to China since they have this system in place already.
2
"This is inevitable under capitalism. " Wrong. This would not happen under capitalism, since your government and its regulations are interfering with the market. The prices are high because there is more demand than supply.
1
Nothing is stopping you from moving into a socia list country where they have that. If you want to simp for a gove rnment, I highly suggest checking out North Korea, or China.

Except it is not capitalism.

"How can you have a free market if the market is controlled by monopolies?" Only government regulations can create monopolies. In a free market they are not possible, since they have to obey the supply/demand.
1
Regulations and government interfering with the market is the problem in the first place.
1
@brianbice1427 "deregulation and privatisation is the problem," Wrong. Prices are high because there is too much demand and not enough supply, and the supply is being restricted by regulations and the govern ment in general.
1
@brianbice1427 "these stifle small buisness, " Small businesses are stifled by strict government regulations such as zoning, which makes building apartments costly, so that already established bigger corporations are mostly the ones who can afford to do it.
1
@diegoherrera1422 : How would that help exactly? If every apartment would be government property, then their maintenance would also be. Now care to elaborate from where would the government get all the money for this again? From you, hun. Everybody would be renting a house from the government, so either your rent would be extremely high or your tax %. Pick your poison.

Nope.

Capita lism is not the prob lem. It is the gov ernme nts and their reg ulatio ns which won't all ow it to work prop erly.
1
A home is someone's property and people should be free to do whatever with their property. There will be no "generational wealth building scheme" if there are no others participating in it. Nobody is forcing people to buy into it.
1
"Capitalism, in its truest form, is literally just cutting corners in order to make a quick buck. " Not really. Capitalism in its truest form is pleasing the customer who pays the bills. If you cut corners and still get payed, it is the custo mer who is the suc ker.
1
That is what you will get when you give the government more power and add more regulations. Pretty much every single social-democratic country here in Europe and Scandinavia, are "rental societies" because the government has made it so difficult and costly to own things.
