When it comes to fa scis m, both Be n ito and the philosopher behind the ideology, Giovanni Gentile, were devout so cia lis ts and Gentile himself tells us that fa sc is m was a form of so cia lis m, born of out m arxi sm and so relian syndic alism (Origins and Doctrine of Fa scis m).
