It was very decent of J K Rowling not to name the troll she responded to. I wonder what you would get if you asked a TRA to define 'decency'.

She has never presented as the opposite sex, but this is what she said on the topic, "Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who'll have you. Live your best life in peace and security .But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?"

If Contrapoints put as much effort into formulating a rational argument as he puts into playing dress-ups he might be worth listening to.

@lightningspeeds777 If you mean the video in which he idiotically compares JK Rowling to Anita Bryant (and Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene) - I have watched it and that is two hours of my life I'll never get back. The comment I made about him above stands.

@lightningspeeds777 Fair enough, I'm not claiming genius either, just a respect for reality. I think JK Rowling has been quite consistent - her main argument has always been that people can identify however they like and shouldn't be persecuted for it, but that they should not cross the boundary where they are encroaching on women's rights. She did start out being more conciliatory than she is now - I guess all the rape and death threats from the Be Kind Brigade have hardened her attitude somewhat. Even now she doesn't say anything that a reasonable person would call 'transphobic' - she just trolls the trolls, usually with their own words. My only criticism of her essay is that it should not be necessary for a woman to frame herself as a victim to justify not wanting men in women's spaces.

You're right, but would a loving sister try to persuade her brother to do something that is guaranteed to get him a malicious response and might well jeopardise his career?

What a load of nonsense. J K Rowling has been happily married - to a man - for years. She has sons. Most of the major characters in her books are male. What evidence can you provide that she views all men as 'toxic rapists'? She has made it clear that she doesn't even view all trans identifying men as toxic. It is true that the term 'TERF' was coined by a feminist (Viv Smythe), and there are certainly women who call themselves feminists on both sides of the trans ideology debate, but to say that it is purely a war between feminists is wrong. In fact, I would turn one of your statements around and say that some feminists have been weaponised by trans identifying men to do their dirty work. Unfortunately there are women who willingly accept the role of handmaiden. There are plenty of women who vehemently deny that they are feminists who nonetheless don't want men, regardless of how they identify, going into their changing rooms, playing on their sports teams, washing and cleaning them if they are disabled, conducting body cavity searches etc etc
