"Those terrible eyes, that strange Mekon forehead" - has nobody noticed this about Starma before? The level of dissociation, the lack of emotional engagement, it's a symptom of psychopathy.

I thought I was watching the wrong channel! I usually skip these guys. Well done Dr Starkey, what a beilliant move, injecting insight andvreason into a 'tabloid' format. Just the ticket, thankyou. We are clearly woefully short of intelligent leadership.

I think of Kellie Jay Keen when I hear Dr Starky's line of thought. English pragmatism, it's a very distinctive trait of the English. "Rights" are actually anti British liberalism. Our genius is Common Law. We are assumed to be free to do anything. The parliament can pass laws in anticipation of conflicts between interests and the courts can devine the best compromise guided by those laws. But at its base, we are free unless the jury says we have failed to consider the effects if our actions upon others. Rights asserted by a court can be removed by the same court. No court has any basis upon which to override Common Law. Look at Covid, the UN's declaration of human rights was completely ignored, they are the playthings of people with ulterior motives.

Larry Siedentop's book "The Invention if the Individual" is a fantastic description of the birth of the idea of people as independent, autonomous entities. The primacy of the family as the basic unit of society was dismantled by the idea each person owed a duty to a supreme single God, who ruled supreme thereby usurping their family duties and loyalties. David is pointing out that the resurgence of this tribalism is enabling the state to be dismantled and challenged. The problem of liberal democracy is that it fails to promote and support the private lives of people which is where all economic wealth comes from. The state is supposed to exist to protect the private, private business and family relationships. But the Christian doctrine of the individual has lead to the atomisation of society. We no longer look to our family but to the state for our security and wealth. This is a very dangerous state of affairs and why we have let the state be overun by globalist socialism.

The thing about the authoritarian beurocracy Dr Starmer is talking about, is that it cannot survive unless it takes total control of every aspect of your life - that is, authoritarianism inevitably becomes totalitarian.

What's wrong with internal exile to the outer hebrides for those without proof of identity? Australia started sending all illegal immigrants to live in a tent on a tropical Island off its north coast. They stopped coming. But it took nerves of steel to resist calls from the popular press to reverse that decision.
