  4. Mr Starkey doesn't even touch on Classical English vs Continental liberalism. I think he perhaps (as a conservative) has a different take on liberalism to many. From my perspective though, the origins of the most scurrilous totalitarian tendencies lie in Europe (such as Marxism, National Socialism and Fascism). These were only contained by the pragmatism of Classical English Liberalism that renounced the oppression narrative of figures like Rousseau and the perversion of the idea of evolution via sublation using the Dialectic of Hegel. It is the vulnerability of liberalism to totalitarian authoritarianism from European ideas that is the greatest threat to the free world. Classical English Liberalism has so far managed to eschew it's tentacles, although this latest American import (Critical Social Justice theory) has to be considered a real threat.
