This is an open and shut case As pointed out by this video, the Yalta conference clearly gave Russia possession of these islands Yes, it sounds unfair that "world powers" get to decide among them who gets what, but such is the outcome of war Japan lost the war, and the victors - Soviet Union, UK, and the US - decided that Russia gets those islands What else is there to say? Again, as mentioned in the video, if they're going to disregard this agreement, then that just means it's fair for EVERYONE in the world to disregard whatever agreement that they don't like Anyone arguing that Japan should these islands are essentially arguing for a lawless world
