@bingobongo1615 No, it was not a poorly led mob of soldiers who committed the atrocity There was actually a competition between two Japanese officers to see who can be the first to behead 100 Chinese, and it was reported in newspapers back in Japan like it was the regular sports section

@Immoralsalvage Oh, so you "heard somewhere", I guess it must be true then And even if that is true, how is that any better Making up news of a head hunting competition just to sell newspapers? What kind of twisted society does that

@bingobongo1615 Apologies are meaningless when war criminals are still actively being venerated

@darrinscott6612 Except they don't actually deny it The average Chinese people know what happened under Mao, they know that Mao fukked up They also knew that Taiwan under Chiang Ching Kuo sent aid relief to China during their time of famine

@Usammityduzntafraidofanythin You're making it more complicated than it really was Were the Japanese army the only one to have committed war crimes in the history of the human race? No, hardly So why is it that when they did it, there needs to be a special explanation for it? They committed war crimes, simple as that No fancy explanation needed

@heathercontois4501 Because nuking Japan was never about beating Japan Nuking Japan was the US telling the rest of the world "Look, we got nukes, here's a demonstration, don't fuk with us"
2
@Usammityduzntafraidofanythin Wow, that sounds like Olympic level word gymnastics just to try to justify what the Japanese did

Yes, Japan's strategy was to make the US invasion of their home islands as painful as possible. The hope was that by doing so they would be able to force the US to negotiate terms But the bombs weren't what changed their minds, it was the imminent Russian invasion
1
No, the Russians absolutely had a plan drawn up for the invasion of Hokkaido Source: https://foreignpolicy.com/2015/08/05/stalin_japan_hiroshima_occupation_hokkaido/ Like I said, had the Russians not decided to go to war with Japan, Japan would have stuck to its strategy of dragging the war out with the US, atomic bomb or not
