  1. The market for your employer's good/service is distinct from the labor market that creates it. Don't think for a second it provides safety, leverage, etc. Do your best to build 'portable' skills. Long hours working on your company's proprietary webstack/orm is a fast track to nowhere and leaves you uniquely qualified for an unfair supply/demand relationship.
