Here's the harsh reality: entry level work has never had less value due to the investments of the wealthy in achieving exactly that. Delivering a pizza used to require knowing the town, making change was required to be a cashier and the guy at the hardware store was expected to give advice. Now with GPS, PoS, webapps, etc a 15-year-old kid is 85% as good as they guy who thinks he's worth 10k more a year. If you're willing to skill up and be competitive there are more 6 figure jobs than ever in history. But if you fail to clear that gap, it's going to be worse than your entry level grandfather.
