I will not forget the blue-collar scrubs that were ecstatic that AI was going to replace me a year ago (while being completely oblivious that AI is the limiting factor in robotics).

You're going to supply a source, right?

@raptorate2872 Exactly what i thought.

@Drummerx04 Imagination is nice, facts are better. I quick google says this is bullshit, so there's that
3
@Rohinthas I was hoping for more than a vague appeal to authority. There was a very specific claim we used to work 15 hours a week

@Drummerx04 Credible source that's accessible. Try critical thinking

@Rohinthas A book behind a paywall isn't credible. You know you are being dishonest. We're done.

@heisvi9317 Do people really not know the difference between a primary source and secondary source? At best this paywalled book is referencing primary sources. If so, cut the appeal to authority and go to those primary sources to make the case directly. This whole tangent is pure dishonesty. We're nowhere near that level of academia here, I'm setting the bar very low: show me the specific source for the claim around 14-hour work weeks. Spoiler: You can't.

@kc12394 Still waiting for the claim to be substantiated

@Alarios711 Lets be crystal clear on the dishonesty in this echo chamber: Its an appeal to authority when it just cites the authors credentials WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE QUESTION. That is a very specific question that should have many corroborating, primary sources. Let me type this slowly: it is not credible source for the purposes of corroborating this specific claim. But go on, type out another screed misrepresenting me but still not providing the simple evidence

@juicymelodic nope. Years ago I could get a gig just doing html/css/js. No frameworks, no server side, etc. Due to tech (including ai), I now have to do front end with N frameworks, backend distributed MSA design and cloud infra. Am i being exploited? Is this 'the man' stealing my wages? No. Setting up a datacenter used to take literal physical labor and now it's a few clicks in an html form. That skill is now genuinely worth less unless you leave near a cloud providers data center. When advancements come out you either skill up or get out. An artist should now expect to deliver an actual product/service/experience. Standalone art just isn't that valuable anymore. Is it better than AI art? Sure, but MDF is far more popular than 'real' wood for a reason.
