  1. Yes, that's what I've been doing. Showing up there at 5k interval, and asking them to change just the oil and pay for it, 5k is on my wallet, 10k on theirs.

  2.  @DH-mf2lv  Yes, correct, including the filters, as those are also cheap. If you plan to keep your car for a very long time, 5k intervals is key. Skip the engine flushes, engine oil treatment, etc the dealer will recommend, those don't do anything if you keep 5k intervals.
