  1. I have this rattle on my 12 year old corolla. Though every time I change oil at 6 months, it goes away.

  2. Issue came with the original design of the vvt gear, can't escape it, but strict regular oil changes can significantly delay this from happening, or potentially not happen at all. My corolla (12 year old) does this rattle every now and then on cold start only. What's interesting is as soon as I do my regular oil at change 6months or 5k, it does not rattle anymore until about 4-5 months in.

  5. With new cars, Toyota updated the VVT gear, so might as well consider this fixed.
