No sense putting $20k in repair for a 10 year old car, he could of just spent the cash for a new car. Tsk tsk, sorry to say, but that dealership robbebd your friend pretty good.

I suggest talk to the dealership's service advisor, have him call the mechanic/foreman, and have the mechanic sit with you when you do the slow turns. on their lot. This is what I usually do when they say they can't replicate.

Start with cheapest, change transmission fluid.

The channel has a patreon page (video description) drop AMD and his team some love.

Saw a while back how they do it, not impossible to DIY, but it requires hours to do it right.

split to 1 second is fine man. Don't worry about it, if it''s getting longer like 2-3 seconds, or as AMD said if it happens when driving, you know it's time. Does it happen even after an oil change? Mine usually goes away after an oil change and only comes back once in a while after 5ish months, then oil change on 6 months, it's gone again.

Is it a V6 man?

@Leonardokite That's beautiful man.

Gotta love AMD's honesty and integrity..

Miss those pre-cellphone years, life was pure, or purer.

Depends on the year, avoid the AZ engine family, those burn oil. Safer side, 2016 onwards.

I think it's VVTi gear. It's super common, and it's intermittent just like my 2011 corolla. Usually an oil change will make it disappear. From my experience, even on very cold mornings, I don't get that rattle at all. But nearing the 6th month mark for oil change, I sometimes get the rattle, then after oil change it's gone again..

I don't quite get what you mean by this man. Are you saying they need to start replacing those parts in that RAV 4? To me at leas,t it doesn't make financial sense, those repairs you mentioned coudl easily be more than the price of that RAV4.

If it happens a few times in a month, no problem. Change your oil, and see if it will be gone.

Don't stop believing.

3 months is more or less correct if you don't use fully synthetic, and short drives. With synthetic, 6 months is the safest interval, or 5k-6k miles. Try changing it once with fully synthetic, drive it for a month and see how the car responds, then go from there. Yes, preferably buy your oil and filter and just have them install, when unsure, just go to the dealer, these two are cheap.

it's caused by the VVTi gear.

$XXXX. They did a VVTi gear replacement last time, you can check their videos list.

They actually waited 2 days
