Polygamy is a normal custom in both African cultures and Islamic religion. As a Muslim, Baraka Obama Sr. is allowed to take four wives. As an African of high social status (moreso inborn, given that he was a Luo princelling) , he was allowed to take as many wives and concubines he wanted to for as long he was able to sustain the welfare of the former ones and their offspring.

Besides, the ancestors of the Shenzi people (wrongly named "Swahili people", but there has not such thing as a "Swahili people") , the ancient Azanians and the Puntites and South Cushites prior them, were all indigenous Cushitic speakers, and had been conquerred by the Abyssinians and Yemenis/Himyarites in the course of 1st Millenium, twice over each (albeit partly bt the latter group: they barely subjuguated a few coastal cities-states) and had themselves conquerred too some Sabaean and Hymiarite cities in Roman antiquity. And I am not counting the blurry regional frontiers they shared with the Somali region/Coast of Barbary since Roman antiquity. There is, then, little to no surprise that Afro-Asiatic loanwords heavily influenced the Swahili language since its inception in 6th century AD, given that its very roots are partly Afro-Asiatic (more particularly South Cushitic and Eastern Cushitic) .
