  1.  @23GreyFox  you can use word "occupied" instead, it doesn't change the fact the whole europe invade USSR and fought for Hitler. OK, Poland not fought for Hitler - but Poles and Russians fought each other for 500 years non-stop, so it doesn't matter too. we take them because we can. we need no exuses to take Poles in any time. Anyway - I guess Soviet "occupation" hardly could be compared with Nazi - 6.000.000 poles were murdered by Hitler, while under Soviet rule population largely increases (and territory too , btw). So, while technically "occupation" COULD be used - its much better to use "liberation" instead. (Or you must agree with US - occupied Germany then. )

  2. 23GreyFox Army who "plunder, massacre and rape" are largely incapable to fight. This is why strict discipline are needed. Those who condemned Reds for crimes somehow forgot to mention - many soldiers were jailed or executed for this. It was a big concern for commanders and all necessary measures was taken to prevent and/or punish such behaviour. Those measures included propaganda of tolerance toward civilians. All documents available online. So... whatever happened - it was NOT a kind of policy or something, just an anger. Unlike Germans - who killed people purposely according to plans.
